PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft type gasification melting furnace capable of continuous slag-tapping by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This furnace comprises a fast zone holding waste as a main material together with a combustion auxiliary, a second zone holding more waste than the first zone, and a third zone holding the combustion auxiliary as a main material, and a hearth in which the auxiliary is charged. This furnace is further provided with a long and narrow shaft part in which waste is gssified in the upper part of the first zone, and air-supply means installed in the second zone and a high temperature gas-generating means for heating the combustion auxiliary in the third zone.
