The invention relates to an optical cross-connect (OXC), comprising at least one controllable switch module (OSM) and a distribution frame (VR), which may be monitored by means of a network management system (NMS), the external and internal optical distributor inputs and outputs of which (ir1 to irn, er1 to ern) may be connected within the distribution frame (VR), by means of several optical connection paths. Furthermore, several of the internal optical distributor outputs (erk+1 to ern) are connected to the inputs (ims to imn) of the controllable switch module (OSM) and the outputs (em1 to emn) of the controllable switch module (OSM) are connected to several internal optical distributor inputs (irk+1 to irn), whereby the controllable switch module (OSM) is controlled, depending upon the verification results determined by the network management system (NMS).
