PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method for reducing a manufacturing cost and finishing a surface of work to make a highly flat worked surface (such as a mirror finished surface) rapidly and efficiently only by grinding. SOLUTION: In order to finish the work surface WF of the work W to make a mirror finished surface, grinding is performed by moving a grinding wheel T relative to the work W in such a manner that advance (feeding), retreat (anti-feeding), advance (feeding), and the like are alternately repeated. That is, in the first feeding process, when the wheel T reaches a first work ending point S2, the wheel T is moved, as an anti-feeding process, from the point S2 (first return starting point) toward a first return ending point S3 in a direction parting from the work W. Then, the wheel T is moved from the point S3 (second work starting point) to a second work ending point S4 as the second feeding process. Grinding is performed by alternately repeating the feeding process and the anti-feeding process until a working allowance C of the work W has been removed.
