PURPOSE: A shielding type electric connector having a housing with a reinforced support unit is provided to prevent the relative motion of a shielding unit by mounting the shielding unit to a housing, and to offer the improved shielding property at the rear portion of a connector. CONSTITUTION: An electric connector for keeping a matched plug includes an insulating housing(102) for keeping plural conductive terminals and a conductive outer shielding unit. The shielding unit has plural panels(126,128,136) forming a front opening for keeping the matched plug and a rear opening for keeping the housing in an assembling process. The plural panels form an inner cavity. The insulating housing has a base(108) and a support unit(140) extended to the front side from the base in a cantilever form. The support unit has a flat form. The support unit increases the strength of the shielding unit and prevents the deflection caused by twist of an inserted plug. The panels of the shielding unit have interactive locking form to prevent division.
