<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for cooling a glass panel for a cathode ray tube by which breakage of the glass panel caused by residual tensile stress generated at a glass panel sidewall part, especially at opening ends of four corners thereof can be ameliorated by suppressing only shrinkage strain generated in the sidewall part of the glass panel when the glass panel of nearly rectangular and box shape is press-molded and then is cooled by blowing cooling air to the glass panel from above. SOLUTION: The method and device for cooling the glass panel for the cathode ray tube is distinguished by that a press mold is lowered to molten glass mass supplied into a molding die to execute press molding, that the press mold is elevated, thereafter when the press-molded glass panel in the molding die is cooled by blowing cooling air from above, cooling is executed so that cooling air is substantially not blown to the glass panel sidewall part.</p> |
