A new thermophilic bacterium brevibacillus borstelensisbcs-1 and a thermostable D-stereospecific amino acid amidase produced therefrom

The present invention relates to new thermophilic bacterium Brevibacillus borstelensisBCS-1 isolated from the soil and new thermostable D-stereospecific amino acid amidase (DAA) produced therefrom, wherein DAA can hydrolyze stereospecifically amides containing D-amino acid into D-amino acid and ammonia at high temperature. Therefore the enzyme can be used as enzymatic biocatalyst for the production of useful D-amino acids from amides containing D,L-amino acids.
