PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: Toprovided a unit type building capable of being designed without requiring individual building units to have unnecessary retentive horizontal bearing forces and a method of structural calculation therefor. SOLUTION: This unit type building includes a plurality of building units 10 arranged lengthwise and crosswise, and connecting members 110 and 210 for interconnecting the building units 10. The connecting members 110 and 210 are each formed approximately in the shape of a flat plate and can transmit shearing forces generated in the horizontal direction of adjacent building units, so they can support the horizontal shearing forces for the entire building and the horizontally aligned building units can be handled as one continuous structural body. To make structural calculations of the retentive horizontal bearing forces of the building, the retentive horizontal bearing forces of the horizontally aligned building units 10 are determined for each building unit, and the values of the retentive horizontal bearing forces determined for the individual building units are added together to obtain the value of the retentive horizontal bearing force of the entire building.
