A network control system including a managing device, a device for communication with the managing device, and a repeater for connection between the managing device and the device, in which the device has a power supply control circuit (7) adapted to perform on/off control of the power supply of a circuit including a start signal monitoring unit such as a wakeup packet monitoring unit (10) of the device so as to monitor reception of a start signal of, e.g., a wakeup packet sent from the managing device through the repeater when the managing device carries out maintenance. The power supply control circuit (7) stops the output of a predetermined signal to the repeater while the power switch of the device is detected to be off. The repeater has a power supply control circuit (18) for controlling the on/off of the power supply of a transmission/reception circuit. If a predetermined signal is not detected to be outputted from the device, the power supply control circuit (18) turns off the power supply to the transmission/reception circuit.
