Production of an electrode comprises cleaning the surface of the support of the electrode and vaporizing a layer of titanium onto the surface in a vacuum and/or in an inert gas atmosphere. An Independent claim is also included for the electrode produced. Preferred Features: The support is subjected to plasma discharge produced by magnetrons. The plasma discharge is carried out at 150-600 KHz. Vaporization is carried out using an electron beam. The inert gas is helium. The support is made of an aluminum foil or an insulating film of plastic.
