<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup system that can set processed contents of compression of image information for each image pickup means. SOLUTION: The image pickup system is provided with an image pickup station 3 and a base station 5 interconnected via a communication channel 1, and the image pickup station 3 transmits an image or the like obtained by picking up an image of a prescribe supervisory object or the like to the bas station 3 via the communication channel 1. Then each camera 11 is provided with a compression section 11b and a parameter such as a compression system and a compression rate can be set to each camera 11. Moreover, the image pickup system is provided with an automatic control mode and a semi-automatic control mode where the contents of the compression and the image pickup condition of each camera 11 are automatically or semi-automatically decided to optimum setting according to a feature of each monitor object.</p> |
