PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a plurality of discharge lamps with rationalized choke coil. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device lights discharge lamp 4, 5 by supplying the output of a high-frequency lighting circuit 2, inverting a direct current power source 1, to the discharge lamps 4, 5 through current limiting choke coils 3, 3. A plurality of discharge lamps 4, 5 with different rated powers, namely, FCL32 and FCL40, are installed in parallel with each other, and choke coils 3, 3, corresponding with the respective discharge lamps 4, 5 are installed. Each of choke coils 3, 3 with the same specification, therefore with the same maximum inductance value, has an intermediate tap 3a in order to get intermediate inductance value. When the respective choke coils 3, 3 are connected to the respective discharge lamps 4, 5, maximum inductance value or intermediate inductance value is selected in order to make respective choke coils match with respective discharge lamps. |
