The method involves correlating the vehicle operating times with time, determining times at which the electronic systems are probably in operation and starting the electronic systems in standby mode at a time interval before a probable startup of the vehicle. The correlation of operating times takes account of the time of day, the day of the week, holidays and/or the time of year.
