PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active pyrrolidinone derivative conveniently in a good yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active pyrrolidinone derivative is to react 3-acetyl-1-benzyl-2-pyrrolidinone as a raw material in the presence of a specific microorganism and/or a bacterial cell processed product thereof in such a way as to perform stereoselective reduction.
