PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiwavelength etalon having susceptibility for each of a plurality of wavelengths. SOLUTION: The multiwavelength etalon has a plurality of regions 38, 39 having different refractive indices. By changing the refractive indices, the wavelength of light entering the etalon is varied, and thereby, a plurality of wavelengths between the reflection faces of the etalon are detected. By selecting specified refractive indices, the etalon shows peaks and troughs at specified wavelengths in the transmission characteristics. Or, by gradually changing the refractive index in the transition region 40 between the two adjacent regions having different refractive indices, the optical interference can be decreased.
