PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronics capable of simply and promptly inputting characters even when the number of characters to be displayed at a time is a little and a control method for the electronics. SOLUTION: Index characters are read from a character string stored in a memory, displayed as an index and when any character is selected among the index characters, a predetermined number of characters from the character string stored in the memory are displayed in a predetermined arranging order, based on the selected characters. In addition, the character string stored in the memory is stored within a range to be read, based on the characters to be displayed as the index characters in the arranging order including auxiliary symbols (such as voiced sound symbols, semi-voiced sound symbols) and lower- case letters to be attached to the read characters.
