PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exchange, repair or extend refrigerant piping easily in a short time, without having to drain refrigerant therefrom. SOLUTION: A solid plug of refrigerant is formed by supplying refrigerant in a pipe, cooled below the freezing point, to the outer circumferential surface of at least a part of piping constituting a refrigerant circuit. Conduction of refrigerant in the pipe is blocked by the solid plug, before cutting the piping and a desired work is performed without draining refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit.
