Novel plasmid dna vectors

This invention relates to plasmid backbones and constructs wherein non-essential nucleotide sequences have been substantially removed. These backbones can be used to clone genes of interest. The constructs are useful in gene therapy, DNA vaccines and the in vitro production of polypeptides and/or proteins.
