PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element for a metal belt, the metal belt and a method of assembling the metal belt allowing the damage and abnormal wear prevention of the element, a band and a pulley and smooth operation in power transmission. SOLUTION: The metal belt 17 comprises the metal endless band 18, the metal element 19, and a metal falling preventing body 20 somewhat wider than the band 18. The element 19 is supported in a recessed portion 30 of the element 19 by the band 18 so as to pass the band 18 and the falling preventing body 20 therethrough and the falling preventing body 20 is engaged with an engagement protruded portion 33 of the element 19.
