RETENTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THE BLADES OF A ROTARY MACHINE

PURPOSE: A retention system and method is provided to prevent the moving blades of a rotary machine from being axially displaced forward or backward. CONSTITUTION: A circumferential hub slot(16) is formed along the periphery of a machine hub(10). Moving blade holding slots(18) are provided matchable to the circumferential hub slot when the moving blades are machined-processed and the moving blades are accommodated in an opening(12) having the shape corresponding to the hub. One or more ring segments(22) are fixed to the moving blade holding slot and the circumferential hub slot to prevent the moving blades from being axially displaced. The ring segments are fixed to a matching slot using a key-assembly through a screw part pushed in radially outside by a hook part for accommodating the ring segments, and a nut part. A cap is provided as a redundant auxiliary load path for centrifugal load to be applied to the key. As another process, the key-assemble is provided in a dovetail of the moving blade.
