PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the slipping down of an underpants type disposable paper diaper and to rationalize the waist and trunk tightening forces of the diaper. SOLUTION: In the waist area of the paper diaper in which an absorbent core 13 does not exist, a plurality of elastic expansion/contraction waist members 20, 20, or the like, each composed of a thin rubber thread is fixed at intervals in parallel to the margins of openings. In the around-waist area of the diaper, in addition, in which the absorbent core 13 exists on the belly side and which is demarcated from the waist area to a crutch area connecting a pair of around-leg openings, elastic expansion/contraction around-waist members 21 each composed of 9 to 25 thin rubber threads are fixed at intervals in parallel with the margins of the openings. The stretching stresses and cross- sectional outside diameters of the members 20 and 21 are substantially made equal to each other and the fixing intervals of the members 21 are made equal or shorter than those of the members 21.
