PURPOSE: A cell multiplexer constructed as duplexing and a duplexing control method thereof are provided to construct a cell multiplexer hardware as duplexing, and to effectively operate/manage a hardware resource and control information. CONSTITUTION: A VPI(Virtual Path Identifier)(212) manages cell transmission path control information of the first cell multiplexer, and changes the control information when a changing request for the control information exists. Processor communication units(213,214,215) receive signals from an outer exchange switch link, and communicate with each multiplexed processor by using the control information. A duplexing control unit(218) requests a state change of the first cell multiplexer, and senses a duplexing signal, then controls a change of the control information. Dual port storing units(212,219) receive control of the duplexing control unit(218), and read out the changed control information to transmit the control information to the second cell multiplexer.
