PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device which allows obtaining a uniform temperature distribution over an entire width of a heater without widening a width of a magnetic field generating means more than the width of the heater. SOLUTION: This heating device is composed of a cylindrical heater 1 which comprises an electrically conductive member and satisfies the maximum size of the width of recording material and the magnetic field generating means 4 which consists of a first exciting core 2a which is disposed over the entire width of the heater 1 while being opposed to the heater, an exciting coil 3 which is wound around the exciting core with the maximum size of the width of the recording material along the longitudinal direction of the heater 1 and plural second exciting cores 2b which are wound around the first exciting core 2a and the exciting coil 3, are divided so as to have a uniform temperature distribution over the maximum size of the width of the recording material and are disposed in the longitudinal direction of the first exciting coil 2a. Therein, the heating device 1 is subjected to heat generation by an eddy current which is generated in the heater 1 by magnetic field by means of the energized exciting coil 3.
