METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING HARDLY DECOMPOSABLE SUBSTANCE IN WASTEWATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus capable of efficiently decomposing and removing hardly decomposable substance like dioxins in wastewater by wood rotting bacteria. SOLUTION: An apparatus for removing a hardly decomposable substance in wastewater has a fixed bed type reaction tank 3 and/or 4 filled with a bed wherein wood rotting bacteria being basidiomycetous bacteria are bonded to a carrier based on wood finely divided into chips or cellulose. Wastewater containing a hardly decomposable substance is passed through this apparatus to remove the hardly decomposable substance.
