PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide photocatalytic granules high in photo-activity, excellent in photo-efficiency, decomposition efficiency and durability and capable of being fixed on a solid material. SOLUTION: The photocatalytic granules are obtained by forming a mixture of photocatalytic particles and colloidal silica into granules and then drying the granules, and each photocatalytic granule contains the photocatalytic particles in an amount of >=10 wt.%. The mixture mentioned above may contain fillers comprising magnesium silicate, aluminum silicate, calcium silicate, sodium silicate, calcium sulfate, calcium carbonate, lime, clay mineral, aluminum salts, ceramics, activated carbon, zeolites, inorganic whiskers, inorganic fibers or the like. The forming of the mixture is carried out by using a granulator, a pelletizer, an extruder, an injection molding machine or the like. The contact of the photocatalytic particles with outer atmosphere is not hindered and the photocatalytic particles can be sufficiently brought into contact with organic substances, oxygen and ultraviolet rays, thereby the photocatalytic granules are easy to handle, can be fixed onto a solid material and exhibit high photocatalytic activities. |
