In a planetary gear comprising an internally toothed outer wheel 6 engaged by externally toothed planet wheels 2, 3 carried by eccentric pins 4, 5 provided on a driving shaft 1, the teeth of the outer wheel 6 have a part circular addendum face and the teeth of each planet wheel have an arcuate face derived from the equations x = Rb sin z-s. sin t + rk sin alpha y = s (1-cos t)-Rb(1-cos z)-rk cos alpha where x and y are co-ordinates of points on the planet wheel tooth face, Rb is the pitch circle radius of the outer wheel, z is the angle through which the outer wheel would rotate for an angle of revolution t of the eccentric pin when a reaction part of the gear remains stationary, s is the radius of revolution of the eccentric pin, rk is the radius of the addendum face of the internal teeth of the outer wheel 6, and alpha is the angle between the abscissa and the tangent to the curve of the planet tooth face, at the point of contact of the tooth faces, so that tan alpha = sin t-sin z / cos z-sos t The planet wheels 2, 3 are coupled to an output shaft 8 by means of a rod 12 having ball ends 13 mounted in the wheels 2, 3 and a spherical centre portion 15 rotatably mounted in a recess in a member 7 secured to the output shaft 8 by pins 9. |
