The system includes at least one sensor such as an optical, acoustic or electromagnetic proximity switch. The signal from the sensor is processed in an evaluation unit. A time switch is connected to the sensor and can be reset by it. After a preset time, the time switch switches off a hydraulically operated loading mechanism. The vehicle speed may be limited if a person is detected.
