PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for reducing the heat-leakage in the molten steel level zone of a continuous casting mold. SOLUTION: Heat flow between the formed cast outer shell and the inner surface of the mold, is restrained with comparatively high heat conductive resistance between these parts to reduce the danger of crack on the outer shell of a strand. At this time, the high heat conductive resistance between this formed strand outer shell and the inner surface of the mold is obtained as a result of macro-structure corresponding to this inner surface of the mold.
