PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element used for a high temperature air filter completely eliminating the dusting and scattering of carbide even at a high temperature treating stage over 250 deg.C and stably usable over a long period of time even in the temperature range over 400 deg.C. SOLUTION: In the filter element 1, a filter fabric 3 as a filter layer is fitted on one side surface of a porous supporting body 2. In the supporting body 2, the outer periphery of a porous plate 4 is surrounded with a frame body 5. The filter fabric 3 is present extendedly so as to cover not only main plate surface of the porous plate 4 but also the frame body 5. The filter fabric 3 is glued to the frame body 5 with an inorganic adhesives 6. The filter is constituted by disposing for example the filter element 1 in wicker basket shape in a frame 7.
