The invention relates to a device for the propulsion of heavy loads, in particular large equipment in open cast mining works, having a supporting frame having at least one supporting pedestal. The supporting frame can be raised by means of at least one longitudinally adjustable support and can be moved in increments by means of at least one drive when the supporting pedestal is lifted off from the floor. In order to permit uncomplicated control of the movement process, accompanied by a simple design, the support provided at the lower end with a rotatable footplate is rotatably mounted on the supporting frame at the upper end of the said support by means of a drive via a bearing pin which is offset eccentrically with respect to the longitudinal centre axis of the support.
