PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera with an automatic focusing function which is capable of surely carrying out automatic focusing action by assuring luminance sufficient for contrast AF even under such a condition under which the luminance value of the image signal outputted from a solid-state image pickup element is unobtainable. SOLUTION: The electronic camera which photographs an object by a CCD 16 and records its image on a recording medium 23 has a camera-shake correction mechanism 12, a camera-shake correction control section 34 for controlling the same and an AF control section 35 which carries out the automatic focusing by the contrast AF system in accordance with the integrated value of the luminance value of the image signal outputted from the CCD 16 and sets the exposure time of the CCD 16 longer than in the case the camera-shake correction is not carried out when the camera-shake correction mechanism 12 carries out the camera-shake correction action.
