PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image recorder small in size, simple in configuration, capable of obtaining a clear color image and excellent in maintainability. SOLUTION: The entire group of plural image forming units having different color toner is rotated and moved, so that the respective image forming units can be successively moved to the same image forming position. The image forming unit forms an image with signal light at the image forming position and transfers a toner image to an opposed intermediate transfer belt. Even in a state where the toner is not fed to the periphery of a detection means for detecting toner residual amount in the image forming unit because the toner is flocculated in a toner storage part by keeping a situation that the image forming unit group is not sufficiently rotated and moved such as the case of consecutively outputting a monochrome image for a long time, the erroneous detection of the toner residual amount is prevented by rotating a rotating body just before detecting the toner residual amount and loosening the toner in the toner storage part. |
