<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proxy server, which relays a data transfer request from a terminal belonging to one network to other network, relays the data received from the other network to the terminal and is provided with a disk cache to store and reuse the received data, that can enhance increase in a response time, due to increase in the access frequency from the terminal. SOLUTION: When a proxy relay section 44 of a proxy server 40 receives a data transfer request from a terminal 30, in the case that no desired data is present in a memory cache 41, the proxy server 40 compares an estimated access time to a disk cache 42 with an estimated response time of a network 20 to a server 10 and decides whether the proxy server 40 makes a data transfer request to the server 10 or retrieves data on the disk cache 42, depending on whether the former is larger than the latter.</p> |
