PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device which can control an air-fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine with high accuracy by accurately measuring an inner-cylinder trapped air amount of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This control device comprises: an air amount sensing means arranged on an intake system of an internal combustion engine for sensing an amount of air to be supplied to the internal combustion engine; a first oxygen density sensing means arranged in a chamber communicated with a space inside a cylinder of the internal combustion engine for sensing oxygen density of new air charged in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine; a second oxygen density sensing means arranged in an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine for sensing oxygen density of exhaust gas exhausted from the internal combustion engine; a trapping ratio calculation means for calculating an inner-cylinder trapping ratio which indicates a ratio of the new air charged in the cylinder that is not blown out, based on both of the oxygen densities sensed by the first and second oxygen density sensing means; an inner-cylinder charged new air calculation means for calculating an amount of the new air charged into the cylinder from the intake new air amount sensed by the air amount sensing means and the inner-cylinder trapping ratio calculated by the trapping ratio calculation means; and an output means outputting the inner-cylinder charged new air amount for controlling the internal combustion engine.
