The invention concerns a hydrophilic cotton pad for skin care with a weight per unit area of at least 150 g/m<2>, comprising two different external surfaces whereof the fibres are bound. The invention is characterised in that the first external surface comprises hollow streaks with a spacing e1 between the streaks ranging between 1 and 8 mm and a depth p of the streaks of at least 0.25 mm and at least 50 % of the fibres are bound. The inventive pad is used for applying care products such as cosmetic products on the skin.
