A manually resettable switch has co-operating latch members 20, 22, provided by bimetallic strips, one member mounting a heater coil 24 such that current through the coil causes disengagement of the latch members and outward movement of a spring-biased actuator 18 carrying one latch member such that the switch contacts 14a, 14b and 16a, 16b are actuated. Push-button 12 is depressed against a spring 46 to re-engage the latch members, a surface 50 on button 12 engaging contact 16a to move it away from contact 16b. Compensation for ambient temperature changes is provided by the substantially parallel leg portions 92, 98, Fig. 9 (not shown), of the latch members 20, 22. Leg portion 92 carries a polytetrafluoroethylene cap 96 providing a latching surface 97 engaged by latch member 22. Coil 24 is wound around mica sheets 28, 30, sandwiching leg portion 98 of member 22. |
