In the present invention there are disclosed aqueous dispersion adhesives with pH value in the range from 2 to 6 and containing homopolymeric or copolymeric polyester, polymeric protecting colloids with polymeric protecting colloids, complexing water-soluble compounds and at least partially masked polyaldehydes with at least 3 carbon atoms, from which aldehyde groups are controllable released in an acid medium. In the present invention there is also claimed a process for preparing such adhesives from homopolymeric or copolymeric polyvinyl ester dispersion in the presence of polymeric protecting colloids by mixing thereof with complexing metal salts or acids and by subsequent mixing thereof with at least partially masked polyaldehydes. The above-indicated adhesives are used for adhesive bonding porous and semi-porous materials.
