PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator used for a device fetching optical image information recorded on a film as electronic information and suppressing the increase and complication of processing and hardware constitution for correcting the image information fetched in image processing of a poststage. SOLUTION: In the illuminator, liquid crystal panels 15a-15c are provided on optical paths between light sources 11a-11c and the film 20 for every RGB component of an illumination beam, and by changing the transmissivity of the liquid crystal panels 15a-15c based on a contrast difference of the images on the film 20, spatial distribution of the illumination beam and dispersion, etc., of light quantity for every color of the illumination beams, the light quantity of the illumination beams irradiating on the film 20 are adjusted for every color of RGB.
