PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing spinel-type lithium manganate, capable of depressing an amount of manganese dissolving through a charge, when the lithium manganate is used as a cathode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, capable of improving battery characteristics at a high temperature, such as high-temperature preservability and high- temperature cycling characteristics, to provide the cathode material made of the lithium manganate, and to provide the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery produced by using the cathode material. SOLUTION: This method of producing spinel-type lithium manganate comprises subjecting electrolytic manganese dioxide containing magnesium in an amount of >=150 ppm and/or manganese carbonate to heat treatment at 500-800 deg.C to change into dimanganese trioxide, mixing the dimanganese trioxide with a lithium compound, and baking the mixture. |
