PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nucleic acid capable of hybridizing to a DNA molecule encoding a body weight modulator which permits the control of fat accumulation and fat content in mammals. SOLUTION: The nucleic acid and an antisense nucleic acid molecule which are capable of hybridizing to the DNA molecule encoding an obesity(OB) polypeptide and are detectable when being labelled, a nucleic acid capable of hybridizing to a noncode domain of an OB nucleic acid and an oligonucleotide primer for amplifying a human genomic DNA encoding the OB polypeptide are obtained. |
