PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aluminum material having a refined crystal structure and excellent in mechanical properties regardless of an alloy composition and to provide a method for producing the same aluminum material without changing the large-scale device or process. SOLUTION: An aluminum ingot is applied with high shearing strain at least for one time, is thereafter subjected to heat treatment and is moreover molded by extrusion or rolling. As to the aluminum material produced by this method, in the crystal structure, the average grain size of the crystal grains is <=50μm, the aspect ratio of the crystal grains is 1 to 10, and the average grain size of intermetallic compounds in the crystal grains or crystal boundaries is <=10μm.
