PURPOSE: A method for estimating motion using an overlapped block matching algorithm is provided to enhance a processing velocity thereof by reducing the number of blocks used in a circularly and repeatedly revolution search. CONSTITUTION: A block is formed by separating the inputted image frame into a predetermined block for performing an overlapped block matching algorithm(S1). A revolution search is performed in accordance with the overlapped block matching algorithm(BMA) with respect to the current block(S2). A measuring unit of the current block is calculated(S3). The current calculating value is compared with the reference value(Th,S4). If the calculating value is more than the reference value(Th), the current block is displayed as "BMA continuous cell" for a revolution search of the current block(S5). The process is repeated with respect to the next block(S6) from the above (S2) stage. If the calculating value is less than the reference value(Th), the current block is displayed as "BMA complete cell" in accordance with a revolution search of the current block(S7). It is judged whether all blocks are displayed as a complete cell(S8). If all blocks are displayed as a complete cell, the revolution search is complected. If all blocks are not displayed as a complete cell, the process is moved to the next block and repeats the revolution search(S9). |
