摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To machine a lens at high precision without causing flexure on a grinding wheel. SOLUTION: A work holder 2 for holding a work 1 is rotatably provided, and a grinding wheel 9 to be rotationally driven is provided so as to grind the front surface of the work 1 held on the wok holder 2 while being in contact with the work front surface. A spherical surface generating device is provided with a first moving mechanism part 3 for supporting the work holder 2 and moving it in parallel with a rotary shaft 2a; a second moving mechanism part 11 for supporting the grinding wheel 9 and moving it perpendicularly to a rotary shaft 9a; a third moving mechanism part for moving the grinding wheel 9 in the rotary shaft direction; a driving motor for turning a turning base 12 on which the grinding wheel, the second moving mechanism part and the third moving mechanism part are loaded around the periphery of the contact position of the work 1 and the grinding wheel 9, and a controller 14 for controlling the first, second and third moving mechanism parts and the driving motor. The grinding wheel 9 is formed into a disc shape in which a curbed part 9b and a cylindrical part 9c are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the grinding wheel for performing machining while being in contact with the work front surface.
