PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston ring for an internal combustion engine favorably improving oil scraping-off performance while securing the sealing performance. SOLUTION: A compression ring 210 is provided with an outer ring 220 energized in the direction of a cylinder 20 by a coil expander 231 via a support ring 232. The outer ring 220 is provided with a resin ring 221 with no abutment, and the resin ring 221 with no abutment is formed with tapered faces 223, 224, which suppress oil from being scraped up to the combustion chamber side. The ring 221 with no abutment is provided with a storage groove 225, and the storage groove 225 stores a metal ring 222, which is used as a sliding face.
