The invention relates to a device (1) for impeding motor vehicles that travel on a road (2) in a direction opposite to the prescribed direction of travel. The inventive device comprises a sensor (21) for detecting vehicles that travel in a direction opposite to the prescribed direction of travel which, upon detection of a motor vehicle that travels in a direction opposite to the prescribed direction of travel, displaces at least one movable flexible barrier (3) from a release position to a barrier position in order to impede said vehicle. Said barrier (3), when in the barrier position, extends in a substantially traverse direction to the direction of the prescribed direction of travel, preferably at a level with the passenger cabin, and constitutes a wall. |
