Device comprises a rigid support rod (5) to which are connected anchor screws (6). Each screw head has two or more wires (12, 13) of sufficient length that they can be wound together around the rod so that spine (2) and rod are gradually drawn into place. Once the wires have been wound together they are arranged so that they do not block the fitting of a corresponding locking element (7).
