PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel image forming apparatus capable of forming an image of high image quality on recording paper by selectively flying charged toner to the recording paper on the basis of image data and an image forming substance used therein. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with a toner feed device 1 for feeding toner 6 in a charged state, a printing head 2 to which the introducing port 21 on the side of the toner feed device, the discharge port 22 on the side of recording paper and a passage route 23 through which the toner passes from the introducing port 21 to the discharge port 22 are formed, an electric field forming means consisting of electrodes 24, 25 capable of forming a first electric field for introducing the toner into the passage route 23 of the printing head 2, a second electric field for holding the toner in the passage route 23 while suppressing the speed component in a lateral direction of the toner introduced into the passage route and a third electric field for ejecting the toner in the passage route 23 to the recording paper 4 so as to change over them and a controller 100 for controlling the electric field forming means on the basis of image data. |
