PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device which suppresses the occurrence of SOS jitters and can form a satisfactory image without fluctuations. SOLUTION: This optical scanning device 10 has an angle in the sub scanning direction with respect to a scanning plane that a light beam L deflected by a polygon mirror 20 draws. A cylinder lens 56, converging the light beam L, is arranged on this side of the optical path of an SOS sensor 54 by turning it to the SOS sensor 54. The cylinder lens 56 is arranged in a position so that the light beam L, which is made incident on the cylinder lens 56 becomes out of the bus of the cylinder lens 56. Even if a deflection face 20B of a polygon mirror 20 is tilted, and the incident position of the light beam L to the cylinder lens 56 is shifted with respect to the auxiliary scanning direction Y, the convergent position of the light beam L is not shifted greatly on the surface of the SOS sensor 54. Thus, SOS jitters can be suppressed sufficiently.
