PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light resistance-imparting agent capable of preventing discoloration and fading of an image formed by printing or the like, an image formed by ink jet printing in particular and stably maintaining image qualities, and to provide a recording liquid, a recording sheet and a method for preventing discoloration and fading of an image. SOLUTION: The light resistance-imparting agent comprises a glycoside bearing a phenolic hydroxyl group, preferably a hydroquinone derivative, further preferably a compound obtained by an ether linkage of a hemiacetal hydroxyl group of a sugar selected among monosaccharides, reducing disaccharides and reducing oligosaccharides with one of hydroxyl groups of a hydroquinone. The solubility of the glycoside is preferably at least about 1 mass %, further preferably at least about 3 mass %. If required, at least one selected from among phosphoric acid compounds, amine compounds and nitrates is jointly employed. The method for preventing discoloration and fading of an image comprises incorporation of the above light-resistance-imparting agent into a recording liquid and/or a recording sheet. |
