PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the inversion of gradation from occurring by providing both optical characteristics of a light condensing plate installed between a back light and a liquid crystal cell and a diffusion plate installed in front of the liquid crystal cell with asymmetry with the normal line of the liquid crystal cell as the center. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of the back light, the light condensing plate 10, the liquid crystal cell 5 provided with liquid crystal between two substrates and the light diffusion plate 11. Besides, both optical characteristics of the plate 10 installed between the back light and the cell 5 and the plate 11 installed in front of the cell 5 are provided with the asymmetry with the normal line of the cell 5 as the center. Then, the plate 10 installed between the back light and the cell 5 is provided with such an optical characteristic that the intensity of transmitted light becomes asymmetric with the normal line of the cell 5 as the center and the plate 11 installed in front of the cell 5 is provided with such an optical characteristic that the degree of light diffusion becomes asymmetric with the normal line of the cell 5 as the center. Thus, the inversion of the gradation is not caused. |
