<p>The present invention provides a system and method for billing Internet users based upon the amount of bandwidth they consume when they access the Internet. The method comprises a software package referred to as the billing rule. A service provider using the billing rule is able to enter parameters into a separate data file, which results in a custom tailored billing scheme. Similarly, the system disclosed herein facilitates Internet access in usage-based fashion and includes an Internet Protocol network, a hardware operating environment, an interface, and the billing rule software.</p> |
